2023 Recipient - Sophia Bostrom

She says, “I am very excited about that because I have a huge passion for environmentalism and climate justice”.

Sophia was also the president of the environmental club at CCI and ran a thrift store where students could donate old clothing, wash the items, then put them on display for other students to have, free of charge. She was also on the board of the Interact Club (junior rotary) and did lots of fundraisers including hosting a Music Festival at @thecollingwoodbrewery , sourcing local musicians and raising over $2,000 for the Busby Centre (helping homelessness) in Collingwood. Sophia says, “I am proud to be a participant in these activities because I am big on mutual aid and my personal philosophy centres around collectivism so I really love helping out and giving back to my community any way I can. I hope to continue these projects in Toronto in the fall”.
